Laurel Averill was born and raised in the coast of Maine. She grew up with a creative family and was always encouraged to try new forms of artistic expression. Silk Painting became a passion for her about 15 years ago and has blossomed into a fulfilling career. She currently resides in Edgecomb with her husband and two children.
Laurel draws her inspiration from the beauty of nature. She is self-taught, using the ancient art of silk painting in an unconventional and modern way. Utilizing the bold and unpredictable colors and textures of silk dye, she strives to create a dreamlike window into the imagination that evokes a sense of calm and reverence for nature.
